When the school was founded in 1910, a foundation stone was laid, embedded in the wall near the boys' main entrance. The stone remains on site, where the residential development that took the place of the school now stands.

NEW. The front door main entrance on the boys' side of the school. Senior boys and teachers could enter here, but everyone else had to go downstairs, past the woodwork room and the coat room. Photo by Graham Oldfield, some years after the school closed.

NEW. Taken from the girls' playground, we see the gym wing with the library on the floor above it. Photo by Graham Oldfield

This photo, kindly provided by Martin Baggoley (former pupil, and author of a wonderful book of photos of "old" Eccles). It shows the front of the school as it looked during WWII.

This photo by Jim Simpson (who has confirmed the date) is from 1992 ( a long time after the School closed). Windows at bottom right were the Headmaster's offices, those above were the male Staff Room.

The second Simpson photo shows the Girls' entrance gate, on Park Road. Behind the lower corner windows was the office of the Headmistress.

A third Jim Simpson photo, showing another view of the front of the school, on Park Road.

Graham Oldfield took this photo of the east side of the building sometime after its closure. Looking on ruefully are girls from the 60's -- Joyce (King) Partington in white coat, and Christina Womersley.

David Brown snapped this photo of the boys' entrance gate as it was in 1982. The school building didn't get demolished until more than 10 years later. The gate seen here still remains there today.

Another David Brown photo, showing the front door on the boys' side of the building, the entrance down to the coat rooms, the foundation stone, and a look towards the toilets and bicycle shed. It was again taken in 1982, when the building was already disused.
